Banks prepared for Eurozone entry
The banking sector is ready for the Eurozone regardless of whether Bulgaria meets the criteria and gets the green light for entry from the beginning of next year, or membership is delayed, according to the Association of Bulgarian Banks (ABB).
The chairman of the branch organization, Petya Dimitrova, the CEO of Postbank, explained that they are putting in a great deal of effort to ensure a smooth transition to the euro.
The association also wishes to conduct an active information campaign about the euro in addition to those already launched by the BNB, the Ministry of Finance and the European Commission.
1.5 million levs for divers to film reservoirs
The National Electric Company (NEK) is looking for divers to inspect dam walls, shafts, and underwater galleries with a view to filming problem areas so that the company can plan which dams most urgently need repair, according to the public procurement register.
The auction has an estimated value of 1.5 million levs, and the deadline for submitting documents - offers or applications for participation - is May 20.
NEK will conclude a framework agreement for a period of 4 years with up to three potential contractors ranked from first to third place (inclusive), provided that there is a sufficient number of offers that meet the stipulated conditions.
30% rise in salaries for military personnel
Military personnel's salaries will increase by an average of 30% from January 1, 2025, while maintaining the established military ranks and positions, after a parliamentary vote was passed unanimously with 195 votes.
MPs cited the need to provide stability and security to military personnel as well as the necessary incentives for people choosing a military career.
