Inflation numbers drop

Inflation continues to fall in Bulgaria, but at a slower pace, according to March data. On an annual basis, inflation has been tamed to 3%, and compared to February, it is 0.2%.

The accumulated amount since the beginning of the year is 1%.There has also been a slight monthly drop in the prices of food, clothing and housing expenses - by 0.5%.

All other groups of goods and services continue to increase in price, albeit minimally.

F16 jets will be ready late this year

Seven of the Bulgarian F-16 Block 70 fighters ordered from the US are on the production line, and the first three aircraft will be delivered to Bulgaria at the end of the year, according to the acting caretaker Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov.

Zapryanov specified that the three fighters will remain in the USA until March 2025, in order to train Bulgarian technical staff, who will be sent to the USA and consist of 84 people in total. He added that 12 Bulgarian pilots are currently being trained in the USA and two more will be sent. The first two trained will return to Bulgaria this year.

He added that the second three aircraft will arrive in the second quarter of next year, and by the end of 2025 the remaining two of the first eight purchased from the United States will also arrive. Bulgaria has bought 16 F-16 Block 70 fighters from the US in total.

Exports to the EU drop sharply

For the eleventh month in a row, Bulgaria's exports are still shrinking, but at a slower rate, according to data released this week by the National Statistical Institute for the period January-February.

During the first two months of the year, exports to the EU shrank by more - 12.5% on an annual basis, and to third countries - by 9.3%.

Outside the EU, Bulgaria's main trading partners are Turkey, USA, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom, Serbia and Gibraltar, which account for 50.6% of exports to third countries.
