President Radev begins interviews for caretaker PM

President Rumen Radev has started official meetings with candidates to be caretaker prime minister.

The chairman of the Parliament Rosen Zhelyazkov (GERB) was the first to be called. After Zhelyazkov, the governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Dimitar Radev went to the presidency. Later today Rumen Radev will also have a meeting with the Chairman of the Audit Chamber Dimitar Glavchev.

The consultations followed the breakdown of the rotation agreement between GERB and WCC-DB and new elections at some point in June or July.

Bulgaria's exports have doubled since 2013

Bulgaria's exports have doubled over the past decade, while in the last 20 years, they have increased almost 7 fold, according to recent statistics. Investment goods, which mainly include machines and parts, are the fastest growing. In the past decade, the value of products sold abroad has tripled, and in the last 20 years they have grown more than 13 times.

Despite this, the largest share of Bulgarian exports - almost 40% - is raw materials and materials, according to the aggregated data of the BNB and NSI on Bulgaria's exports.

Sofia adopts a record budget

Sofia Municipal Council has officially adopted Sofia's budget for 2024. Although GERB tried to reject the proposal of the Deputy Mayor for Finance Ivan Vassilev on the draft budget, today Boyko Borissov's party gave support, meaning that Sofia will have a record 2.576 billion leva for its budget.

A total of 45 municipal councilors from WCC-DB, GERB, Sinya Sofia and those who stepped down from Vazrazhdane supported the budget. Fourteen councilors were against, and among them are the representatives of BSP, TSP, Vazrazhdane and VMRO.
