Serbian authorities refuse to arrest Nexo founders

Serbia's authorities have rejected the Bulgarian prosecutor's office request to detain the founders of crypto company Nexo, Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kanchev, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has announced.

On April 7, the prosecutor's office received information from the Interpol national office in Belgrade that the two defendants had arrived at Belgrade airport from Dubai the previous evening just after 11p.m.

According to the prosecutor's office, information was received from Interpol on Friday that Trenchev and Kanchev stated they were "victims of a politically motivated slander campaign during the election campaign in Bulgaria." Interpol has now requested additional information from the Bulgarian prosecutor's office about the political affiliations and connections of the two in Bulgaria.

Nexo's offices were raided three months ago and their directors investigated for money laundering and fraud, even though there is no evidence for either.

CNN: Bulgaria considered giving MiG-29 jets to Ukraine

Bulgaria has expressed readiness to give fighter jets to Ukraine, BTA reported, referring to the American TV channel CNN. The commitment is dated February 23 and is contained in one of the Pentagon documents leaked on social media about the plans of Ukraine's Western allies last week.

The Ministry of Defense officially responded that it had not held talks on providing Bulgarian MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. "Such a decision would lead to a deficit of capabilities, which is contrary to the Constitution of Bulgaria and the Law on Defense and the Armed Forces," it said.
