A report received from the Spanish investigative authorities this month claims high-level figures from the previous political establishment in Bulgaria might be connected to a 5 million euro house in Barcelona. The house was first flagged some years ago in a local investigation about an ex-mistress of the then PM Boyko Borissov. She was found to be living there with a child. The Spanish authorities investigated the money flows and concluded the corporate transactions leading to the purchase might constitute a crime.

Bulgarian posts reports a 13 million levs loss for 2021

This information was included in the answer to an MP's question from the new minister in charge of the state-owned courier service. The company also lost a 7.5% market share for 2020 while the overall courier and post market grew from 572 million leva to 678 million. The new budget for the company is almost 90 million levs - 45 million euros. The plan is to turn it into a "one-stop shop" for all e-governance across the country.

Vera Su captain gets probation

The 59-year old Turkish sailor who was in charge of the vessel Vera Su, which ran aground on Bulgarian shores last year, has been given a three-year jail sentence, suspended for five years. He was charged for allowing the ship to get stranded on the shore. Vera Su caused the state to incur expenses of millions of levs in towing it to Varna port.
