Borissov will not cooperate with ex-partners WCC-DB

Boyko Borissov does not want a new coalition with his former partners, he announced today, after the latest opinion polls gave GERB a 10-point lead over WCC-DB.

"The future depends on how each individual presents themselves, and which people have the integrity to participate in these discussions," he said, hinting that scandal-hit former Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov's presence in WCC-DB poses a problem for negotiations. Later, the party's deputy chairman, Tomislav Donchev, referred to Rashkov as a "figure of questionable integrity." MRF co-chairman Delyan Peevski also criticized Rashkov, stating that he has no place in politics.

Last week GERB and MRF removed the chairman of the National Health Insurance Fund, and then jointly proposed changes to the Gambling Act earlier today. But, despite these signs of closer ties, neither Borissov nor Peevski has yet commented on the possibility of a coalition between their two formations.

European Project covers highway with 5G Internet

Establishing 5G coverage along the highways connecting Bulgaria and Greece is important for both mobility and enhancing digital services for the small communities along this corridor, said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedialkov at the demonstration of the 5G SEAGULL project.

A consortium between A1 Bulgaria, Greek COSMOTE, and WINGS ICT Solutions is working to establish continuous 5G coverage along the "Orient/Eastern Mediterranean" corridor, which is part of the Trans-European Transport Network. The cost of half of the project is co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility.

In Bulgaria, the focus is on covering 173 km of the Struma highway. The total length of the route is 450 km across both countries. The 5G network will provide voice and video calls, autonomous driving capabilities, real-time traffic data sharing, traffic information, and more.

Kunchev wants epidemic of whooping cough declared

State Chief Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev announced that by the end of the week, he will propose to the acting Minister of Health, Galya Kondova, to declare an epidemic of whooping cough.

Kunchev noted that the incidence of whooping cough in the country continues to rise. The purpose of declaring the epidemic is to enable the minister to issue an order to start vaccinating newborns earlier, rather than when they reach two months as is the current procedure.
