Dimitar Glavchev's cabinet takes office

Dimitar Glavchev's caretaker cabinet took the oath before parliament and assumed office this morning. The ceremony in the National Assembly lasted less than 10 minutes. At the last moment, Glavchev changed the candidate for Foreign Minister, appointing Stefan Dimitrov instead of Ivaylo Tsenov.

GERB leader Boyko Borissov stated that if it were up to him, he wouldn't have selected Dimitrov as minister. President Rumen Radev echoed similar sentiments, but noted the appointment of Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov, who was selected despite several scandals linked to pressuring officials and corruption.

European Court rejects climate case

The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg rejected a case on Tuesday against Bulgaria and 31 other countries, brought by six Portuguese environmental activists. The case alleged that authorities in these countries were not making sufficient efforts to reduce their CO2 emissions, considered a primary cause of climate warming.

The activists argued that the respondent countries bear responsibility for violating the rights of both current and future generations due to the risks associated with climate change, such as rising average temperatures and extreme heat waves that contribute to forest fires.

Earlier, the Bulgarian government expressed its position as a respondent in the matter. The official response claims that the author of the report lacks the necessary qualifications in medicine or psychiatry to assess the damages, and that the report lacks biographical data and medical or psychiatric history of the claimants.

Eurohold Bulgaria plans significant securities emission

The public holding company Eurohold Bulgaria intends to conduct a large-scale issuance of securities to raise up to 130 million levs, with potential for over 500 million levs in the future, on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.

Eurohold's business is concentrated in two primary areas. The company owns the insurer Euroins, which operates not only in Bulgaria but also in most countries across the region.

The other major sector of the holding is in the energy industry, which it entered in 2021 after acquiring CEZ's business in Bulgaria. This includes electricity distribution in Sofia and Western Bulgaria, as well as an electricity supplier serving the group and business clients.
