Solar record repeatedly broken
Between 11 a.m. and midday on September 9, solar installations in Bulgaria set a record for the country, producing 2,319 megawatt hours of electricity. At the same time, Kozloduy NPP generated less than 2,000 mWh, and all coal-fired thermal power plants - a total of about 1,100 mWh. Overall, solar provided 40% of the energy in that hour.
However, the record may have been improved today (September 12), as operational data from the Electricity System Operator (ESO) indicated more than 2,200 mW of photovoltaics were active at 1 p.m., with the peak occurring before midday. More nformation about this will be available tomorrow, but the trend is upwards.
The new records have been set thanks to the launch of new solar installations in recent months.
Gas price cut for autumn
The national gas supplier Bulgargaz has submitted to the Energy regulator a new October price for approval. The supplier is seeking BGN 57.42/MWh for the regulated market
The estimation is 9.36% lower than that approved for September. The estimated price of natural gas for November is BGN 70.20/MWh (without access, transmission, excise and VAT prices).
