Alpha Research: Vazrazhdane could secure third place
GERB has a half percentage point lead over WCC-DB just days before the April 2 election and no clear winner will emerge in Sunday's vote, predicts sociology agency Alpha Research. Based on data from their final survey, conducted in the period March 25-29, 2023, Alpha Research claims there will certainly be five parties in the next parliament.
Vazrazhdane is practically tied with DPS and the battle for third place will be close, according to the agency's data. BSP comes fifth with just over 8%, and Stefan Yanev's Bulgarian Rise has the best chance of re-entering the National Assembly, as it nudges near the 4 percent barrier.
Business climate improves in March only in construction
Companies' outlooks in industry, retail and services deteriorated slightly in March, according to NSI's monthly manager surveys. On the other hand, construction companies are much more optimistic compared to the previous month, compensating for the decline elsewhere. Thus, the general indicator for the business environment in Bulgaria remains at the same level as in February.
The most common difficulty for all sectors is economic uncertainty after the shocks of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The high cost of materials and labor shortages given record low unemployment in the last year are also problems for many companies. Although commodity prices in global markets are gradually normalizing, the tight labor market remains a pro-inflationary factor. So it is that many managers still predict that sales prices will go up in the coming months.
Student business projects can win BGN 40 thousand
A free innovation academy for students will be held for the tenth successive year in Sofia. Innovation Starter's Innovation Academy will be held on June 2 and 3 in Sofia Tech Park. It will resemble a hackathon. Students' projects will be evaluated by a jury of investors, academics, technology experts and innovators.
One project will receive funding for the realization of its idea to the tune of BGN 40,000. Registration is open until the end of May. The top three teams will also win an organized visit to EU institutions in Brussels, provided by the European Commission.
