With third parliamentary elections in 2021 increasingly likely, here comes a survey by polling agency Market Links. According to the poll conducted during August 13-22, former ruling party GERB will have a lead of 21.7% if early elections were held now, while the winner of the July 11 snap vote - the anti-elite "There is Such a People" formation loses support. Аt the same time, the Covid-19 situation is getting worse and experts expect a new peak of the infection next month.

GERB leads again, the previous winner TISP is third

If snap elections were held now, former ruling party GERB (in coalition with the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) would be the first political force in the next parliament with 21.7% support, shows a survey conducted by polling agency Market Links. On the other hand, support for anti-elite formation There is Such a People (TISP) that won the early parliamentary election held on July 11 has shrunk significantly and the party will come in third, supported by 15.7% of the voters. The second position goes to pro-reform Democratic Bulgaria, which sees support for it rising to 16.5%, up 4% compared to its result in the July 11 elections.

15% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 have been vaccinated

Some 14-15% of all patients hospitalized with coronavirus in Bulgaria have already been vaccinated, according to data from the previous two weeks. The percentage of vaccinated patients diagnosed with Covid-19 in intensive care is about 5% and the percentage of deaths is below 3%, said Chief State Health Inspector Dr. Angel Kunchev. According to him, some regions in Bulgaria will reach a peak of the infection at the end of this month, and this will happen in the whole country in September.

TPP Varna has received 12.4 mln levs to 'balance the system frequency'

Varna thermal power plant (TPP) owned by the honorary chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party Ahmed Dogan has received 12.4 million levs (6.3 mln euro) from the state in the first seven months of the year. The money has been provided by the state-owned Electricity System Operator (ESO) in order to "balance the system frequency of the electricity transmission network". The amount exceeds what Varna TPP received for the same period last year to maintain the so-called cold reserve generation capacity. For the whole of 2020 the plant has received 20.7 million levs from ESO to maintain cold reserve.
