Borissov wants GERB PM and 'expert' administration

An expert government with the first mandate and a prime minister from GERB. That is the first offer from GERB leader Boyko Borissov who has broken his silence four days after the parliament elections in which his party came first. If this formula were rejected, he would call for new elections, he said. Borissov also made a specific request to choose some of the key ministries in the future cabinet, such as foreign affairs and defense.

In order to find a compromise for future governance, Borissov issued an invitation for negotiations to all formations in the 50th National Assembly, including those that have already declared themselves to be opposition. Temenuzka Petkova, Denitsa Sacheva and Raya Nazaryan will participate in the negotiating team - the trio were part of the team that led the unsuccessful talks with WCC-DB to prolong the rotation of the Denkov-Gabriel cabinet.

New electricity price increase lowest for a decade

The energy regulator is proposing to raise the electricity price on average by 1.39% country- wide for the new regulation period July 1st- June 30, 2025. The announcement follows a public discussion.

In the draft decision of the regulator, it is proposed that the increase for the customers of Electrohold be 2.74%, for EVN - by 1.46%, and for the customers of Energo Pro the price will decrease by 0.9%. These prices include the prices for grid services.

"The predicted average increase in the price of electricity of 1.39% is the lowest in the last 10 years and is significantly less than the annual inflation in the country," explained the regulator's chairman Ivan Ivanov.

SP suspends Plovdiv's ratings

S&P Global Ratings announced that it has suspended its assessment of the rating of the municipal government in Plovdiv because there was insufficient up-to-date information to maintain the announced BBB level with a positive outlook.

"At the moment we do not have access to information about the latest financial parameters and city planning," the Frankfurt-based company said.

The agency says it will renew its monitoring and restore the rating if it receives the missing data and if it determines it meets its standards for quality, timeliness and credibility. It warned that if the situation doesn't change "after a reasonable period of time" the ratings given to the municipality would be withdrawn.

Kostadin Dimitrov from GERB has been the mayor since November. The same party also won the most (23%) votes for the municipal council.
