GERB firm on Mariya Gabriel as PM amid dispute

GERB will not withdraw Mariya Gabriel's nomination for Prime Minister or support a second mandate if the first fails, party leader Boyko Borissov made clear in response to yesterday's WCC-DB conditions for potential cooperation.

"Why abandon Mariya Gabriel, because a finance minister we supported insulted her?" Borissov questioned, targeting remarks by Finance Minister Assen Vassilev. Earlier Vassilev had labeled Gabriel "the mafia's beautiful face," deemed her unfit for Prime Minister, and said that the first mandate was exhausted.

According to Borissov, WCC-DB's actions suggest they do not want a government, yet he gave them until Friday (March 22) to reconsider. He did not specify whether this means Gabriel's cabinet proposal will be submitted for a vote tomorrow.

WCC-DB demands GERB take responsibility for political crisis

WCC-DB urged its former partner GERB to take responsibility for its actions and propose a specific plan to exit the crisis resulting from its attempt to form a government during the first mandate. The coalition pointed out that future developments now depend on Boyko Borissov's party.

The statement comes in response to Borissov, who earlier today gave partners until Friday (March 22) to consider the fate of the joint governance. In its letter to the media, WCC emphasized its readiness to share the duty of governing.

Sofia Airport adds new flights to summer schedule

Beginning June 3, Norwegian Air International will start flights from Sofia to Helsinki, the Finnish capital, twice a week-on Mondays and Fridays.

From the start of June until September 28, Ryanair will operate regular flights to the Greek island of Skiathos every Sunday. The carrier will also provide regular flights to Bristol every Wednesday and Sunday.
