Von der Leyen Attacks Vazrazhdane As Divisive

Ursula von der Leyen, aiming for reelection as President of the European Commission and representing the European People's Party (EPP) in the European elections, assailed Bulgarian right-wing party Vazrazhdane as part of a group of "far-left or far-right demagogues and nationalists who spread hatred and undermine Europe."

"Far-right populists in Europe, such as Alternative for Germany, Marine Le Pen, or Vazrazhdane, will not be allowed to dismantle the united Europe we have constructed," Von der Leyen stated during the EPP congress.

The bulk of her address focused on the conflict in Ukraine, attributing the demise of Alexei Navalny to Vladimir Putin. "Navalny made the ultimate sacrifice for his country, while Putin sacrificed the country to save his own position. He will be held accountable," Von der Leyen declared.
