Gas Price Lower But Still Higher Than In The EU
58 levs per MWh will be the new regulated gas price for March, according to the energy regulator. This is 18% lower than the price approved for February, which was just over 71 levs per MWh. The new rate is significantly lower compared to 2022 when the market was soaring, but prices have gone through a huge turnaround since then and quotations are at record lows on the European benchmarks.
A quick check shows that the price on the most liquid European TTF exchange, and in particular the segment that takes into account the quantities traded one month ahead, is currently levs 50.77 levs per MWh. Compared to it, the Bulgarian price in March will be 16% higher.
Industrial Prices Sharply Down
Production prices continue to decrease by double digits on an annual basis, according to the data from the National Statistical Institute. In January, producer prices fell by 14.2% compared to the first month of 2023.
A drop in prices was observed in the production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas - by 39.3%, in the mining industry - by 7.1%, and in the processing industry - by 1.1%.
A significant price reduction in the processing industry was recorded in the production of chemical products - by 13.8%, in the processing of leather; production of shoes and other products from processed skins without hair - by 9.8%, production of basic metals - by 9.3%.
Bulgaria Is Third Worst in Europe For Road Fatalities
A new study on the most dangerous countries to drive in Europe ranks Romania first and Bulgaria third. The Vignetteswitzerland.com study analyzed the latest data from the European Transport Safety Council which measures the countries that have the most road deaths per 1 million inhabitants.
In 2022, there were 85.81 victims per 1 million population in Romania, but there was a decrease of 10.26% compared to 2012, when the victims numbered 95.62 people per million.
Serbia is in second place with 82.65 deaths per million, but with a decrease of 13.01% compared to 10 years ago. Bulgaria comes in third with 77 deaths per one million people, a 6.02% decline on a decade earlier.
