Gas Prices Fall by 8.4% in February

Bulgaria's energy regulator has announced an 8.4% cut in wholesale natural gas price applicable for February, setting it at BGN 71.08 per MWh. This decision follows a proposal from public gas supplier Bulgargaz based on international gas market prices up to January 31.

A regulatory analysis of the preceding day had anticipated a price of BGN 73/MWh, aligning with the company's earlier projections for gas supplied to end-users and heating facilities. However, current trading levels on the TTF benchmark show significantly lower prices.

Parliament Reacts to Murder of 'The Notary'

The murder of Martin Bojanov, a.k.a. The Notary, who was fatally shot last night, sparked varied reactions in parliament today, from calls for judicial reform to accusations of return to the lawlessness of the 1990s. While the ruling majority remained reserved, opposition leveraged the incident for political accusations.

Bojanov was shot multiple times by multiple assailants on Wednesday night, with the Sofia city prosecutor suggesting a link to a real estate fraud but not confirming speculation of Bojanov's connection to alleged prosecutorial misconduct. The incident has not yet led to any arrests, prompting widespread police checks in Sofia.
