Bulgaria scores lowest life satisfaction in EU

Bulgarians would appear to be the most dissatisfied people in the European Union, according to a survey.

In 2022, people in the EU rated their overall life satisfaction at an average of 7.1 points on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied). For 18 of the 27 EU countries, overall life satisfaction was rated above or at the same level as the EU average, Eurobarometer data shows.

Bulgarian's life satisfaction, on the other hand, is below that of the average European citizen at a staggering 5.6. For comparison, the lowest scores are above 6 - with Germany recording 6.5 and Greece - 6.7.

According to Eurostat data, those most satisfied with life are citizens of Austria (7.9), followed by the Finns, Poles, Romanians, Belgians and the Dutch.

INSAIT to launch BgGPT

The Institute for Computer Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies - INSAIT, which is part of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", presented BgGPT - the first open source large language model with artificial intelligence (AI) of the latest generation.

It was created for the state, consumers, public and private organizations. As part of INSAIT's strategy to create open and publicly accessible artificial intelligence for the benefit of society, BgGPT is specially trained in the specifics of the Bulgarian language, and the request is to create applications and solutions for the benefit of Bulgarian education, business, healthcare, public administration and other areas.

Unlike other similar platforms (ChatGPT, Bard, Bing and others), BgGPT is not corporate property and will be freely used by Bulgarian public and private organizations. It will go live on March 3 at: https://bggpt.ai.

Inflation in December below 5%

Inflation in Bulgaria continues to recede and in December it was already 4.7% on an annual basis, compared to 5.4% the previous month. This is the lowest level since September 2021, when consumer prices began to pick up speed in the recovery from the pandemic and then galloped to a double-digit rate because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

At the end of 2023, for the first time in over two years, inflation in all sectors fell to single-digit levels, still exceeding 10% in restaurants and hotels and in the health sector a month ago.
