Dogan proposes 2 MRF leaders

Ahmed Dogan, honorary chairman of the MRF, has suggested that the party's leadership post be shared between two people.

Addressing members, Dogan said they could work in tandem, each taking on specific tasks to which they're best suited. The long-time MP Jevdet Chakarov and the current chairman of the DPS group Delyan Peevski are the party's nominees so far.

The distribution of tasks presented by Dogan outlines a strategy in which the movement will have one leader for its traditional electorate, in Europe and Turkey, and another leader who would expand its traditional voter base and broaden the party's appeal.

Local refugee centers full

Two of the refugee centers of the State Agency for Refugees (SRA) are overflowing, claims Mariana Tosheva, the agency's chairman.

The topic of refugees is once again dominating the news against the backdrop of Austria's conditions for Bulgaria in order to lift the veto on the country's air entry into Schengen. But Tosheva denied having an agreement with Austria on the number of migrants returning to Bulgaria.

"We have a total of six reception centers for refugees, two of which are 104% full. At this stage, no new refugee centers will be built," said Tosheva. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the last week of 2023, most people in the centers - more than 82% - are from Syria. Next, but significantly fewer, are refugees from Afghanistan.

New Bitcoin bar in Sofia

While Bitcoin has shot to new heights over the last two years, the first Bulgarian Bitcoin bar has opened its doors in Sofia's Strelbishte district. Its owner is Plamen Andonov, founder of the Crypto Revolution conference and one of the most influential voices in the local crypto ecosystem. His Youtube channel is often the first step for many Bulgarians in the world of crypto, and in particular bitcoin, and the plan is for his bar to be the place where crypto enthusiasts will convene.

The bar has 100 seats and you can pay with Bitcoin with an app like Wallet of Satoshi and get a 10% discount. Conventional currencies are also an option, though you're likely to get some strange looks if you pull out cash.
