Hungary threatens Bulgaria with Schengen veto

Hungary has sent, albeit at a low level contact, a message that if the fee for the transfer of Russian gas through Bulgaria is not removed, it will block its acceptance into Schengen, stated Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov in Brussels today, where he participated in the EU - Western Balkans Summit, as well as the meeting of the European Council.

He added that Bulgarian authorities have decided not to call Hungary's bluft, since the introduction of the fee is not decisive from the perspective of Europe's general policy.

On December 11, the leaders of GERB and WCC-DB Boyko Borissov and Kiril Petkov announced they were waiving fees for the transmission of Russian gas and will abide by the general European approach.

Serbia and Hungary, which continue to depend on gas imports from Russia via the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, declared themselves to be affected by the tax. Hungary also sent a complaint to the European Commission.

Main leaders propose parliament hold extraordinary session next week

The leaders of GERB and WCC-DB, Boyko Borissov and Kiril Petkov, along with the chairman of MRF, Delyan Peevski, continued their cooperative spirit by submitting a draft resolution proposing that the deputies take a break this Friday (December 15), and instead hold meetings on Monday and Tuesday next week. It is not clear why the three MPs insist that there be no plenary session on Friday.

On the first day, the Ministers of Culture and Regional Development and Public Works, Krastyu Krastev and Andrey Tsekov, will speak regarding dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army, as requested by the BSP, and PM Nikolay Denkov will be summoned to report on the results of meetings of the European Council.

Ski season kicks off

The biggest local winter resorts will officially launch the opening of the ski season this weekend. On December 15 and 16 Pamporovo, Borovets and Bansko, respectively, will be opening their slopes.

The daily ticket for adults in Pamporovo is 82 levs, for teenagers between 12 and 17 years old, as well as for people over 65 years old - 65 levs, and for children between 7 and 11 years old - 49 levs.

In Borovets, the prices are as follows: adult - 90 levs, youth and pensioners - 70 levs, and children between 7 and 13 years - 55 levs. In both resorts, children under the age of 7 can use the slopes for free.

Bansko, which opens the ski season on December 16, has not yet announced its prices. The resort only currently sells season passes, which can be purchased at a discount until December 15th.
