Peevski suggests he replace Denkov as PM

Delyan Peevski, whose MRF party acts as an informal partner in the government, has attacked Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's handling of the recent blizzards and power cuts and even claimed he could do a better job. "If he can't do it, I can go and do the job for him. I can do it. If I have to, I can go for a month to try, and if things are more successful and the rating is higher, I can stay," the MRF's temporary chairman said on the sidelines of parliament.

Peevski has repeatedly accused Denkov of incompetence and unwillingness to tackle the situation. He has called the Prime Minister an "online prime minister" and his actions a failure and even added an (unspecified) deadline for Denkov to do his job properly.

Sofia city center prohibited for polluting cars

Sofia will soon be the first city in Eastern Europe to introduce a low emission zone for air pollution, albeit only for three months of the year. As of Friday, December 1st, about 100 000 people will have to leave their cars (registered before 2002) behind and instead use public transport, or cycle or walk if they plan to cross the city centre.

The municipal council's decision was made a year ago with the votes of GERB, DB and the then independent Save Sofia, led by Boris Bonev.

Sofia's new mayor Vasil Terziev has called for a soft launch of the venture - without fines at the beginning. "The system is not quite ready; we are considering a grace period," he commented on Tuesday evening. He admitted the software responsible for analyzing the license plates is not yet working properly.

IKEA opens its sixth local store in Veliko Tarnovo

IKEA has just opened a store in Veliko Tarnovo mall in a move that breaks the familiar format of huge IKEA stores far from the city, and will be similar to its compact store in Mall of Sofia.

The new store has an area of 1,800 square meters and offers more than 1,000 items that can be purchased on the spot - cooking and serving accessories, decoration, products for babies and children, for organizing the home, textiles and others.

Consumers also have access to the full range of furniture and accessories available online on IKEA's website, which can be ordered with various home delivery options or via free of charge in-store delivery at the mall.
