No confidence vote dismissed

A vote of no confidence in the government has been rejected by parliament despite the absence of GERB leader Boyko Borissov and 20 other MPs from his party.

143 MPs voted against the vote of no confidence - 48 from GERB-SDS, 62 from PP-DB (the coalition of We Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria) and 33 from DPS.

71 people's representatives from the opposition voted in favor the removal of the cabinet - 37 from Vazrazhdane, 23 from BSP, 10 from ITN and the independent Radostin Vasilev.

Kiril Petkov's government, which ended in August 2022, was the first to be brought down after a no confidence vote by parliament.

Demonstration banned by mayor

Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandakova has prohibited a march organized by the Committee for the Protection of Jerusalem, which is an organization of Palestinians in Bulgaria, planned for today, BTA reported.

The event has been banned based on the opinions of the State Agency National Security (DANS) and the Metropolitan Police.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office announced to the media that it would be "uncompromising in exercising its powers to guarantee public order and security and to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens".

Gas price to jump in November

State gas supplier Bulgargaz has proposed to the Energy regulator to approve a natural gas price for November of BGN 67.27/MWh. The price for October is 60.41/MWh, or 11.4% lower.

The company noted that November prices at the Dutch gas hub TTF, which benchmarks natural gas price levels in Europe, rose to EUR 49/MWh, or more than 25% in one week. The war in Israel, threats of strikes by workers in the LNG sector in Australia and the leak in the Baltic gas pipeline are just some of the reasons.
