Radev declares Black Sea a military zone

President Rumen Radev has stated that the Black Sea is now a war zone. He said this after the discovery of a drone near Tyulenovo earlier this week, which had a mine attached to it. The device was destroyed with a controlled explosion by military experts.

"The Black Sea is already a war zone. Drones are shot down, mines float, merchant ships are stopped, warships are sunk. If we don't take measures and understand that we need to end this war as soon as possible, it will inevitably creep up on us," said Radev in New York, where he is to deliver a speech within the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

After the destruction of the drone, Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev specified that it would be difficult to establish whether the device came from the Ukrainian or Russian side.

Agricultural producers end protests

Farmers and grain producers protesting near Sofia with their machinery decided to go home after approving the memorandum prepared by their representatives and the government. The text of the document was read in front of them in a field near Dolni Bogrov where they have been pitched since yesterday. It won the approval of the protesters, who applauded after hearing the content.

The negotiators and the government reached an agreement to arrange a regulation that would guarantee the interests of the Bulgarian producers before imports of Ukrainian sunflower resume.

The state will also allocate BGN 63 million from the budget to the State Fund Agriculture for 2023. The money is meant to compensate for increased prices of energy carriers, plant protection preparations, fuels and fertilizers.
