Terziev officially declares candidacy

IT entrepreneur Vassil Terziev was officially announced as the WCC-DB mayoral candidate for Sofia in the upcoming elections. "I've had quite a few political offers over the years, for various roles from various parties, including having an open conversation to be a mayoral candidate in the last election as well. I was also offered a ministerial position - economy, innovation, even before the creation of WCC," Terziev said.

Terziev's candidacy was officially presented yesterday. So far he is the only announced contender to challenge the incumbent Yordanka Fandakova who has been the capital's mayor for almost 14 years.

GERB, DPS and new coalition oppose removing Borissov's immunity

A renewed attempt by BSP to introduce a draft decision to remove the immunity of GERB leader Boyko Borissov and allow the launch of a criminal prosecution against him has failed.

In total, 72 out of 192 MPs voted "for" (Vazrazhdane, BSP and There is such a people) and one each from GERB and WCC). Against were 68 deputies (GERB and DPS), and 52 MPs from WCC-DB abstained.

BSP initially submitted their draft proposal on June 9, after the former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev submitted documents regarding the "Barcelonagate" scandal to the registry.

Malaysian Escatec starts electronics production in Plovdiv

The latest addition to Plovdiv's growing industry is the plant of Malaysia-based but Swiss-owned Escatec, which designs and manufactures electronics and electromechanical products for industry, medicine and transport. This will be the company's fifth production in Europe after Switzerland, Great Britain and two in the Czech Republic.

The company plans to develop a base with an area of 4 thousand square meters, which could subsequently be upgraded. The new enterprise will not start from scratch, but will use the space and existing equipment of ADD Bulgaria, with whom it has entered into partnership. The first 10,000 items, which will be entirely from Escatec's product range, are expected to be produced by the end of 2023.
