Vazrazhdane leader removed from parliament after barracking

Tension erupted in parliament again today when a deputy from WCC-DB tried to speak from the rostrum. Although there were no physical clashes, as there were a week ago, the Speaker of Parliament Rossen Zhelyazkov ordered the removal of Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov.

Since Kostadinov did not obey, Zhelyazkov prematurely terminated proceedings for the day. Earlier, Zhelyazkov had imposed a penalty of reprimand on six representatives of the pro-Russian nationalist formation.

Companies to receive up to BGN 500,000 for innovations

Profitable businesses with plans for new innovative product development will be eligible to receive up to BGN 500 000 free financing. With a budget of BGN 127 million, the procedure aims to provide a mechanism for the creation of innovations in five thematic areas - Informatics and ICT; Mechatronics and microelectronics; Healthy living, bioeconomy and biotechnology industries; new technologies in creative and recreational industries; clean technologies, and circular and low-carbon economy.

In a few days, the procedure will be open for applications, where business owners can declare their intention and receive free financing to realize it. The percentage of support is to be up to 60% of the estimated costs (depending on the category of the enterprise). The maximum period of implementation will be 18 months.

Vitosha Venture Partners invests in 9 new companies

Bulgarian VC firm Vitosha Venture Partners has closed 9 new deals against the background of its expiring investment period at the end of 2023. The total amount of invested capital is EUR 1 million, distributed among 5 more advanced startups and 4 projects from the firm's accelerator program Accelerate, which launched in March.

Earlier this year, Vitosha announced a total of eight deals for just over €1 million, and is currently in the process of closing nearly as many more. By the end of 2023, it plans to provide fresh capital to at least 20 more startups with the remaining 2 million euros left in the fund.

Five of the transactions are in companies in a more advanced stage of development, and the financial infusion in them varies between 50 and 450 thousand euros. The remaining four are projects at an earlier stage of development and are part of the Accelerate by Vitosha startup program, where entrepreneurs with ideas have access to weekly lectures, workshops and meetings with mentors and the possibility of funding up to 50 thousand euros against an 8% stake.
