Forward to the past with GERB?
In mid-2024, future Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov reportedly thanked Ahmed Dogan's faction for "saving" him, following the failed attempt by GERB to form a government. Back then, Zhelyazkov's nomination for a minority GERB government, supported by MRF and relying on MPs loyal to Delyan Peevski, fell apart due to a split within MRF.
Ironically, the faction loyal to Dogan, which derailed the 2024 cabinet, has now become pivotal in supporting a new minority coalition government led by Zhelyazkov, comprising GERB, BSP, and ITN, with indirect support from Dogan's MRF faction.
This coalition, with 126 MPs, marks a return to power for GERB and Boyko Borissov, aiming to restore Bulgaria's pre-2021 governance model after years of political instability and protests. While the cabinet signals a shift toward political consolidation, its reliance on floating majorities for key decisions reflects the continued fragility besetting Bulgaria's political model.

First big tech deal in Bulgaria of 2025
Bulgarian software company Codery has acquired 100% of the shares in Devision, as officially registered in late November. The acquisition, financed through a 2024 investment by the Silverline fund in Codery, combines two companies specializing in software services under the employer-of-record model, where clients directly work with selected specialists while Codery handles contracts.
According to Codery CEO Philip Balkanski, the two companies will operate as separate brands during a one-year integration period before merging operationally. While the deal value remains undisclosed, Devision reported 2023 revenues of 5.8 million levs and Codery's revenue surged from 1.9 million levs in 2023 to 9 million levs in 2024, with plans to double in 2025, aided by Devision's growth.
