Kiril Petkov officially charged over Borissov's 2022 arrest
WCC co-chair Kiril Petkov has been officially accused of misconduct in connection with the arrests of GERB leader Boyko Borisov, former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and GERB PR woman Sevdelina Arnaudova on March 17, 2022.
According to the prosecutor's office, Petkov, who was prime minister at the time, committed an official offense by drastically exceeding his powers and ordering the arrests, which were subsequently carried out by an incompetent body - police officers instead of investigators. He is the only defendant in the case and has not given any explanation to the prosecutor's office.
"I have not committed any crime, this is a political attack. I am not worried about anything and I am not afraid. Peevski is the man who is leading this action," Petkov said before entering the prosecutor's office earlier today.
