Measures to incentivize public transport use as bad air quality hits capital
A green ticket worth 1 lev for travel on all public transport, as well as free parking in the metro buffer parking lots, are being introduced for this Thursday and Friday, January 9 and 10 in Sofia. The measures, instigated by Sofia Municipality, are due to the measured excess of the value of fine dust particles (FPC-10)0 in the air, as well as the NIMH forecast for "moderate" potential for air pollution in the next two days.
The municipality is urging people to shun their cars on these two days and use public transport instead.
A green ticket can be purchased by validating a bank card in any public transport vehicle; from drivers; online via the official web portal; from all cash desks - on paper or as an electronic ticket loaded onto your card.
