Radev appoints two close allies to Constitutional Court
President Rumen Radev has appointed Dr. Nevin Feti and Prof. Sasho Penov as judges to the Constitutional Court from the presidential quota, according to an announcement from his press office.
Dr. Nevin Feti Osman-Yordanova holds both a master's degree and a doctorate from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior. She has experience as a lecturer at the Academy, briefly worked as a lawyer, and served as a senior legal expert at the State Commission on Information Security. From 2012 to 2024, she acted as a legal advisor to the President, also serving under former President Rosen Plevneliev.
Prof. Sasho Penov previously served as Minister of Education in the caretaker government led by Galab Donev. He is a professor of financial law at Sofia University and Veliko Tarnovo University and has also practiced as a lawyer.
The appointment of key allies could help Radev to boost his own presidential powers - a not inconceivable possibility at a time of acute political instability.
