US finances energy project in Bulgaria

The Bulgarian transmission system operator and the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) signed today a contract for free financing of a feasibility study for the construction of an East-West energy corridor.

The American agency will provide 1.5 million dollars for economic and technical analysis of the need to develop the electricity transmission network and increase the cross-border capacity of Bulgaria's borders with Romania, Greece, Turkey and the Republic of North Macedonia by 2000 MW. The project will boost connectivity with the entire Western Balkans region.

WCC-DB returns the second mandate

President Rumen Radev handed over the second mandate to WCC-DB today only to have it returned immediately by former PM Nikolay Denkov on behalf of the coalition. The party failed to find support for its proposed governmental platform even as it assumed the mantle of second political force after the MRF split.

The former prime minister emphasized that the coalition hopes to receive stronger public support in the next election for its priorities related to its anti-corruption crusade.

Dogan's MRF prepared to broach third mandate but not optimistic

In a written statement to the media, the co-chairman of the MRF, Jevdet Chakarov, confirmed that his MPs are ready to participate in a conversation about the possibilities of forming a government with the third mandate.

MRF's parliamentary group is effectively split between honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan and Chakarov on one side and Delyan Peevski on the other.

Chakarov said he believed the chances of forming a government with the third mandate are slim. In the meantime the turmoil within the party continues with no clear perspective on how to solve it.
