Record electricity price
Tomorrow, Bulgaria will report one of its highest average electricity prices since 2022. Quotations on the energy exchange show that the price is reaching 360 levs per MWh, while the volumes during the evening peak exceed 1,000 levs per MWh.
This is despite the restart of the 6th unit of the Kozloduy NPP, which in June was almost out of operation due to an accident.
In Hungary, the price jump is even greater, since in the evening electricity will be traded at almost 2,000 levs per MWh. The reasons for the price transfer to our market are the severe heat wave, the cross-border "bottleneck" and increased energy exports to Ukraine. Problems with transit through Serbia also exacerbate the situation due to a reduced capacity of 25%.
