Peevski and Dogan conflict deepens

The co-chairman of MRF Delyan Peevski sent an open letter to statewide media refuting claims of friction between himself and the Honorary Chairman Ahmed Dogan, but conceding tension between himself and the party's "kingpins".

MRF's internal crisis emerged after the party fractured when asked to back GERB's proposed government. It is rumored that Dogan and Peevski are in a dispute about the party's leadership.

Peevski declared loyalty to the leader and added that he had always supported him in the most difficult moments. But the open letter does not seem to have allayed tensions in that it seems to tacitly concede that there is a dispute. Peevski claims any disagreement is with "kingpins" who have organised themselves behind Dogan's back and "harassed" people.

Currently, MRF is split between 17 MPs who appear to be following Dogan and 30 members who are obeying Peevski's will.

Energy prices spike industrial inflation

Production prices in industry decreased in May compared to April by 0.3% on average for the EU. Compared to May 2023, the downward change is now 4% on average for the sector.

However, on a monthly basis, it is noticeable that the biggest increase is observed in three countries, including Bulgaria. Here, prices rose by 4.5%, in Ireland by 7.7 percent, and in Estonia by 2.1 percent.

The monthly change, which is mainly due to energy prices, is considered temporary at this stage, unless data in the coming months shows otherwise due to energy.

DSB sparks debate within WCC-DB

DSB is offering its partners in the coalition WCC-DB an option to extricate themselves from the current political crisis by supporting a technocratic cabinet.

DSB would like to support a cabinet formed around various experts that can guarantee the European democratic, legal and anti-corruption order, and the preservation of the parliamentary republic. According to this idea, the holder of the third mandate should become a mediator between the parties, and the candidate for prime minister should be acceptable to all.

This proposal runs contrary to WCC-DB's official pledge to remain in opposition.
