6 MPs exit Velichie and criticize leadership

Six of Velichie's 13 MPs have now resigned from the group, Deputy Speaker Rositsa Kirova announced in the House on July 5.

Krasimira Katinchareva and her colleagues Yuliana Mateeva, Pavlin Petrov, Irena Neginova, Larisa Savova, and Rositsa Kalinova submitted their resignations from the pro-Kremlin party this morning, causing the group's dissolution as it now lacks the required 10 members.

Katinchareva cited lack of trust in the leadership as the reason for the departures. She mentioned issues such as learning about key party decisions from the media, discrepancies between discussed positions and the chairman's actions, and the lack of leadership stance on crucial commitments, which is ultimately disappointing voters.

Court dismisses 320 million euro claim in Bozhkov gambling case

Sofia City Court (SCC) has rejected the Finance Ministry's civil claim of nearly 630 million levs in the gambling case against Vasil Bozhkov and nine other defendants. The court deemed that the claim would significantly complicate the criminal proceedings.

Bozhkov is on trial for leading an organized crime group involved in extortion, official misconduct, and corruption. This is the court's second attempt to proceed with the pretrial hearing.

Bozhkov is accused of conspiring with State Gambling Commission officials to avoid collecting and paying full gambling fees, resulting in a 559,739,164.70 levs loss to the state budget. The session is ongoing.

MRF HQ closed off as standoff between Peevski and Dogan rages

MRFs headquarters in Sofia appeared to be sealed off this morning amid reports that planned renovations have been delayed by the June elections.

The uncertainty over future construction seemed to reflect Internal turmoil within MRF in recent days. Party structures have declared loyalty only to honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan, with some calling for co-chair Delyan Peevski's resignation. The turmoil surfaced after key members were expelled, leading to a wave of inquiries from concerned members.

Tensions heightened when long-time MP Ramadan Atalay claimed Peevski dismissed members without Dogan's knowledge, revealing a rift between them.
