Peevski: MRF is as united as ever

MRF co-chairman Delyan Peevski will not expel the MPs who opposed him yesterday, he announced. He added that local structures within the party, not he, requested the expulsion of Ramadan Atalay, Dzheyhan Ibryamov, and Aysel Rufad, who were removed from their posts yesterday. He then urged the president to expedite the second mandate for government formation, while expressing doubts that this parliament would see a regular cabinet.

Regarding fellow co-chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov's call to consider an alternative, Peevski remarked that Chakarov should stick to fulfilling his obligations. He stressed that MRF was unified and there was no rift with Ahmed Dogan, dismissing such speculation as emanating from pro-Russian parties.

Man killed, two injured in Sofia shooting

A man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in the Moderno Predgradie (Modern Suburb) district of the capital today. The other participants in the incident have been detained, announced the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dimitar Kangaljiev, and the head of the Sofia police.

The deceased man, aged 48, had a criminal record. One of the injured, aged 22, sustained chest and leg injuries and was hospitalized. The other injured individual, aged 37, suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and was taken to the Military Medical Academy.

The altercation occurred in front of a pawn shop and escalated into a shootout, reported the Ministry of Interior. The victim reportedly owed money to the owner of a nearby payday loan office.

Coca-Cola contributed 994 million levs to local economy in 2023

In 2023, the Coca-Cola group in Bulgaria, consisting of five local companies, reported a value-added contribution of 994 million levs to the local economy, equivalent to 0.5% of the country's GDP, according to a socio-economic impact report. The Coca-Cola system purchased goods and services worth 222 million levs from local suppliers, generated 234 million in direct revenues, and indirectly supported 760 million levs in the supply chain. For every lev spent on Coca-Cola beverages, 0.75 stotinki in revenue is generated for Bulgaria.

The five Coca-Cola entities in Bulgaria paid 50 million levs in direct taxes and more than 371 million levs in indirect taxes, including 221 million in VAT. The group employs 3,270 people in the country.
