Insulin export ban extended for another month
Health Minister Galya Kondeva has extended the ban on the export of insulin and its analogs, as well as other blood sugar-lowering medications, for another month. Antibiotics intended for systemic use in children will also remain prohibited from export for another month.
The current order takes effect today and will remain in force until July 17, 2024.
The Ministry of Health first banned the export of insulin in mid-November last year, when Hristo Hinkov was in charge, due to reports of shortages of these medications in the pharmacy network. The ministry then commented that the data was alarming, showing a significant lag in the number of dispensed medicinal products compared to those prescribed.
