Electricity prices nudge up
From July 1, household electricity will increase by an average of 1.39%, according to the forecasts of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR). For Electrohold the estimate is an average increase of 2.74%, for EVN - 1.46%, while Energo-pro even expects a reduction of 0.90%.
A month ago, the energy minister had predicted a heftier increase in the price of electricity.
Meanwhile, heating throughout the country is expected to become cheaper - on average by 8.44%. The biggest drop is predicted for Burgas - by 14.09%, Vratsa - by 11.3%, and Ruse - by 11.70%.
Pro-European bloc predicted to dominate European Parliament
Six out of 10 EU citizens have expressed an interest in voting in the European Parliament elections, Reuters reports, citing a Eurostat survey from April.
Polling aggregator Europe Elects predicts that the centre-right party (EPP) will win 180 seats in the 720-member European Parliament. The center-left PES - 138 and the liberal, centrist Renew Europe - 86 seats.
The European conservatives and reformists will only have 75 MEPs, and the far-right Identity and Democracy will shrink from 84 to 68 seats. Other smaller parties will win the remaining 173 seats.
A total of 361 seats will be needed for a majority in the next parliament. Voters in Bulgaria are also oriented towards a pro-European stance, surveys have suggested.
State medical helicopter provides its first emergency aid
Bulgaria's first medical helicopter, which arrived in early February, has completed its inaugural mission, the Ministry of Health announced.
The medical team was dispatched following a call for emergency assistance to a patient in Shumen, filed at 7:30 a.m. The helicopter took off at 8.02 a.m. At 8:45 a.m. it stopped for refueling in Gorna Oryahovitsa, from where it took off at 9:17 a.m. At 9:42 a.m. the helicopter landed on the territory of the hospital in Shumen to transport a woman in serious condition to the heliport of the capital hospital St. Catherine", from where she was taken to the Military Medical Academy. Transportation was necessary due to difficulties in diagnostics.
According to the Transport Ministry, the flight from Shumen to Sofia lasted one hour and 15 minutes, landing at 11:20 a.m
