Second National Assembly meeting lasts 2 minutes

The first session of the National Assembly was scheduled to continue today, April 13, as MPs failed to elect a speaker yesterday. Today, however, MPs gathered for just 2 minutes only to find out that there was nothing to vote on as there were no new nominations for the Speaker, and so promptly left.

The meeting will continue next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. By then parliament's main political figures will have to decide who will head the National Assembly.

Half of Bulgarians choose modest cash boost now over double money later

A total of 53% of Bulgarians would prefer to receive an additional payment today, if they had to choose between this and a future payment that would be double their current income. A total of 30% choose the deferred higher payment and the rest are undecided, as shown by data from a Gallup International GIA survey, conducted in over 50 countries.

Immediate financial hardship is more pressing for those in lower-income countries - who are more likely to opt for some kind of bonus now, even if it's a smaller one - 53% versus 42%. The higher the national income, the more likely people are to wait for a bigger reward down the line - 38% versus 48% in the richest countries.
