117 million levs to modernize small businesses

New machines, equipment and software. These are only some of the potential gains from funds allocated towards the modernization of small businesses, which will be financed with over 117 million levs under the new state-initiated "Competitiveness" program. The procedure will be aimed specifically at family businesses - ones that are owned by more than one family member, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth (MIR) announced. Companies from creative and craft industries will also be able to apply for the program.

The application criteria is still under review, and following its completion the ministry will open the procedure for applications. The goal is to do this as soon as possible.

FindMeCure closes first investment round of the year

The Sofia-founded healthtech startup FindMeCure has successfully closed its seed round raising an undisclosed amount. The company operates two clinical research platforms - FindMeCure and Trialhub. Both platforms aim to bring clinical research close to patients and make innovative treatments more accessible by preventing delays that usually occur due to trials.

The money will be put towards further expansion of the business in the US market and hiring sales and marketing staff.

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" opens a branch in Burgas

Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" will have its own branch in Burgas, the government decided today. This will be the first branch of the educational institution outside the capital.

The government said that personnel with higher education in the branch's specialties would provide a number of advantages to the city and the region, which is why the municipal leadership and the mayor's office of Burgas stand behind the idea of its creation and will provide the relevant material and technical base for training needs.
