The largest single donation - 100 000 leva - went to We Continue the Change. Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev's party received this amount from three people - Ivo Tsenov, Tenko Nikolov - founder and CEO of the IT company SiteGround, and Svetozar Georgiev - one of the founders of the IT company Telerik. WCC is also the formation that collected the most monetary donations overall - over 870 000 lv., or more than 65% of the total amount of donations to the parties.

Bulgarian Venture fund invests in Macedonian startup

Bulgarian venture fund Eleven has contributed 1 million euro to an investment round by Macedonian freelance payments startup Native Teams. The total value of the funding is 2 million euro. In addition to Eleven, the Croatian fund Fil Rouge Capital, the English Haatch Ventures and the American Quake Capital also participated in the funding round. The funds will be invested in the geographical expansion of the service, with Native Teams present in more than 30 countries to date.

Business confidence nudges up

Bulgaria's business climate improved slightly in September compared to August, with the overall indicator up 0.8 points, according to results published by the National Statistics Institute. Companies in the heavy industry, retail and service sectors have improved their outlook; managers in the construction sector, however, are providing grimmer assessments.

Kaufland opens 63rd supermarket in Sofia's Gorublyane

The largest retail chain in the country, Kaufland Bulgaria, has invested more than 35 million leva in a new outlet in the capital's Gorublyane district. In the words of CEO Ivan Chernev, this is "the company's greenest hypermarket". It is the chain's 13th location in Sofia and its 63rd in Bulgaria. The property on which the hypermarket is built covers 15 000 sq. meters, of which 2500 sq. meters cover a commercial area. The floor area of the building extends to more than 10 300 sq.meters.
