Toplofikatsia must pay Bulgargaz

By September 30, Sofia's gas plant Toplofikatsia Sofia must present a schedule for repayment of its debt to the national gas distributor "Bulgargaz". The request comes from the Energy Regulator after an inspection at the heating unit. The regulator has analyzed its income and expenses to determine the reasons for the high indebtedness to the natural gas supplier for the period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

As of June 30, 2022, the company's current liabilities reach BGN 909 million under agreements with the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and another BGN 273 million - to Bulgargaz.

Stefan Yanev discounts deal with Vazrazhdane

"We will talk to all the parties that have entered the parliament. At the moment, these are the Bulgarian politicians we have at our disposal." This was stated by Stefan Yanev, leader of the Bulgarian Rise party and former caretaker prime minister, when asked about consultations with possible coalition partners. Asked about Delyan Peevski, for example, he replied "Is he a politician?" and after being reminded that he is an MP, he added: "As soon as the Bulgarian voters have sent him there, we will sit down and talk."

The only party he carefully ruled out of possible future negotiations is the pro-Kremlin nationalistic Vazrazhdane due to its anti-NATO stance

Gas prices are falling

Due to the recent fall in the gas market, the management of "Bulgargaz" expects the price of natural gas for October to be around or below BGN 240 per megawatt hour, and to remain similar in November and December. The amount is below the ceiling of BGN 250 per megawatt hour requested by various business organizations which have also called for the renewal of Russian gas negotiations.

"Bulgargaz's" CEO Denitsa Zlateva added that requests continue to be submitted to Russia's "Gazprom" every day for deliveries of the contracted quantities, and every time the answer is "no".
