Less than a day ago, GERB leader Boyko Borisov said that "there are many formulas for the future coalition, but a formula between GERB and MRF does not exist". Today, on the 1st of September, the party's position doesn't seem that categorical. In speeches, Borisov and his deputy Tomislav Donchev, described GERB's future partners but, according to their descriptions, MRF seems to be included, writes Dnevnik.bg.
GERB to win the elections, and Vazrazhdane is near MRF's result: poll
Seven parties will enter Parliament after the early elections on October 2, shows a survey conducted by sociological agency Trend. GERB increases its lead over We Continue the Change (WCC) party and reaches 5 percentage points more compared to July. The result is 24.4% for Boyko Borisov's party and 19.6 % for WCC.
The battle for third place is getting tougher. MRF maintains the position it held in July, but nationalist Vazrazhdane is getting closer. 10.6% will vote for MRF, and 10.3% for Kostadin Kostadinov's party, according to the survey. Certain to enter the next parliament are BSP (8.6%), Democratic Bulgaria (7.3%), and Bulgarian Rise (4.5%).
Budget surplus at 1.65 bln levs in August
The state budget remained in surplus in August, with the excess of revenues over expenditures on a cash basis at 1.65 billion levs, or 1.1% of estimated full-year GDP, preliminary data from the Ministry of Finance shows. However, they say the surplus is temporary and is mainly due to the shift of a large part of planned payments to the last quarter of the year.
The July budget surplus totalled 1.52 billion levs.
Jan-July banks profit exceeds 1.2 bln levs
For the first seven months of 2022, the profit of the banking system reached 1.2 billion levs, which is almost 50% growth in annual terms. The result confirms the trend of extremely strong performance of the sector started in 2021, which in recent months has conquered new records, driven by increased credit activity. At the moment, the banks do not feel any significant signs of slowing down due to inflation in Bulgaria and the war in Ukraine. For the last month alone, their profit was 186 million levs, shows statistics published by the central bank.
