Two Bulgarian officers killed after migrant entry

Two Bulgarians police officers were killed by an illegal bus that passed two checkpoints from Turkey on Thursday morning in a case that has widespread coverage. The bus failed to stop during a chase and crashed into their patrol vehicle. The officers were named as Yordan Iliev and Atanas Gradev.

The public prosecution office announced a significant increase in the recent migration flow from Turkey. "Charges are being brought, cases are being closed extremely quickly, but there must be a concerted action by all the authorities in the country in order to overcome the migration burst," the office said in a statement.

Bulgaria could pay Gazprom 1.8 billion euros

Energy Minister Rossen Hristov reaffirmed that the caretaker government is making a definite switch towards renewing negotiations with Russian company Gazprom. "We have a contract that if we don't fulfill, we would owe billions. Also, if we can get Russian gas, this is the cheapest that can be found on the market, he said.

Indeed, if Bulgaria loses its arbitration case against Gazprom, the government would have to pay 1.8 billion euros to the Russians as indemnification. Yet the Minister's claim that Russian gas is the cheapest is highly contentious.

A few days ago, Hristov said that Russian supplies are inevitable and so is the renewal of negotiations which were stopped unilaterally by the Russian side at the end of April, when Bulgaria refused to pay in rubles, as requested by Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to European sanctions. However, according to the European Commission, such payments would violate these very sanctions.

Former TSP MPs officially join WCC ticket

With the exception of the two former MPs who quit There is such a people (TSP) and three former ministers from Kiril Petkov's cabinet, WCC has kept its current leaders on its electoral lists for the October 2 elections.

From information sent to the media early this morning, it can be seen that Radostin Vassilev and Ivo Atanasov, who defected from TSP, are the main candidates in Gabrovo and Vidin.
