Road construction companies will be paid by June 30 for their infrastructure projects completed more than a year ago. This was announced today after a meeting in the Council of Ministers. The unpaid amounts from the Road Infrastructure Agency total 1.1 billion levs.

Parliament closes specialized prosecution

It's official - Parliament today disbanded the specialized magistrature (both prosecution and court). The project was accepted with 124 votes "for" (from the ruling coalition) and 67 "against" (from GERB and MRF). This marks an important step for the ruling coalition - WCC, TISP, BSP, and Democratic Bulgaria, as one of the agreed priorities in the coalition was implementing long-awaited justice reform.

Varna's mayor accused over pollution of city's lake

Varna's mayor Ivan Portnih has been accused of polluting Varna Lake with fecal water in the period 2019-2021, the spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Varna, Radoslav Lazarov, told Dnevnik media.Portnih is accused of allowing the territorial or internal sea waters to be polluted and thus making them dangerous for people. The punishment for this type of crime could be a prison term of between one and five years and a fine of anything from 5 to 30 thousand levs.

Average annual total income was 7705 levs in 2021

The annual total income per capita was 7 705 levs in 2021, which is an increase of 10% on 2020, data from the National Statistical Institute show. Bulgarian households spent an average of 7 042 levs per capita in 2021, or 13.2% more than in 2020. For the last ten years, the net income from wages increased 1.9 times, according to statistics.
