A new day, still waiting for a government. Rumours in Sofia abound that names have already been already discussed and offices promised. Nothing is official still, though, so let's wait a few more days. Friday is the first day of parliament.
New minimum wage of 710 levs (355 euro) offers the caretaker government
This means a hike from the current wage of 650 levs. The finance minister Valery Belchev motivated his proposal with the fact that 750 thousand Bulgarian workers are now listed as receiving the minimum wage. Pensioners are supposed to keep receiving the recently introduced 120 levs on top of their pension for the first 6 months of next year. This is part of the budget for 2022 that the caretaker government is going to leave for the new parliament to discuss.
Budget remains on plus
570 million levs is the surplus in the state coffers for November, numbers show. This is 0.4% of the forecasted GDP. In the budget forecast though, there is a 3.6% deficit or 4.6 billion levs. This means that the state has over 8 billion levs to spend in the next month until New Year. The GERB government was usually spending that money on friendly municipalities and businesses. How the new government spends the remaining budget will be a good sign of how it means to continue.
State is planning to sell Vera Su
The Turkish ship that beached on the rocks near Kavarna and was saved in a 1.5 million euro operation, should be auctioned off, if the owner or the insurer don't pay the costs of the operation. This was announced by the Minister of Transport. Meanwhile, Bulgaria is redesigning its sea routes, so that they don't veer too close to the coast.
