The justice minister Yanaki Stoilov is the newest addition to the Constitutional Court. This was announced by President Rumen Radev today, who nominated Stoilov for his caretaker government and is now transferring him to the highest court. Stoilov is a long-time Socialist deputy and a professor of Law at Sofia University.

Sofia heating company is on the brink

An outside analysis of "Black & Veatch" Management Consulting company was uploaded on the website of Sofia municipality. The consulting company analyzed the situation in Toplofikatsia Sofia and concluded that the equipment is very old and barely functioning, while, financially, the company is on the brink of bankruptcy. This leaves the capital in the precarious position of having to switch at any moment to electricity, which will probably shut down the whole network. The investment needs of Toplofikatsia are calculated at roughly 860 million euro. This will include building two co-generation modules for electricity production and an incinerator.

The millions paid by the former government for Hemus highway were used for political purposes

This is the claim made by the caretaker minister of interior Boyko Rashkov. Rashkov announced at a press conference that there is "no doubt" that advance payments to construction companies were made with the sole purpose of vote-buying and influencing the elections. 94 million leva (47 million euro) were paid in advance for three lots of Hemus, where construction has not even started.

The broken model of the toll system remains in place

Even though the new regional minister admits the system is not generating nearly enough cash, its model won't be changed much. Violeta Komitova stated in an interview that the ministry is discussing a "slight increase" in taxes for buses and heavy trucks, although at the moment they are generating around 20% of all the money needed to repair the road network. The cars are responsible for the rest. This indicates that the system is broken and needs to be overhauled.
