DemBG voting registration rejected in Stara Zagora, possibly seven other election districts
On Thursday the Central Electoral Commission confirmed the decision of the Regional Election Commission in Stara Zagora to refuse DemBG's registration for the upcoming elections in the district. According to the election authorities, the movement's decision to send its registration documents with an e-signature over a USB drive contravened the Election Code and was sent an hour after the deadline. The movement said it would challenge the Commission's decision in court, adding that it successfully submitted documents for registration with an e-signature in seven other electoral districts and warned that the Election Commission might decide to treat them as irregular as well.
Government finalizes, submits Recovery and Resilience plan to Brussels on Friday
The cabinet has committed to a timeframe for the closure of the Maritza East coal power plants in order to get access to the 6.5 billion euro package from the European Commission. Sofia proposes two dates for the final closure of the plants, which are the backbone of the Bulgarian energy grid - 2038 or 2040. The plan contains 59 investment projects and 46 reforms that aim to ensure "strengthening of the economic and social resilience, economic recovery and increase of its long-term potential." Bulgaria, alongside the Netherlands, is among the last countries to submit its final draft plan.
CEZ suspends electricity in 24 Sofia districts on Friday
The electricity supply in 24 districts, including Buxton, Knyazhevo, Dianabad, Vitosha Park, Iztok, Druzhba 1, Sveta Troitsa, Lozenets, Mladost 1A and 3, Ovcha Kupel, Levski and Studentski Grad will be suspended between 8:45 and 16:30 on Friday, 15 October, the electricity provider has announced.
