Energy commission raises natural gas price by 36 percent to 47 euro per Mwh

The Energy and Water Regulation Commission (KEVR) announced it will increase the price of Mwh of energy produced by natural gas by 36 percent to 47 euro per Mwh. The decision followed a closed-door meeting between the Commission and Bulgargaz, Bulgaria's largest natural gas distribution company. At the same time, the average price of the commodity reached 100 euro per Mwh on European markets.

Ministry of Education urges masks, weekly testing for teachers

The Ministry of Education has published a list of anti-epidemic recommendations for schools during the new upsurge in Covid-19 infections. These include the recommended usage of masks for all teachers during and outside classes and weekly testing of all school personnel via PCR tests, which will be free courtesy of the Regional Health Inspectorates. The guidelines come as up to 1 percent of teachers and schoolchildren are under quarantine two weeks after the school year started.

Customs record 0,5 billion euro revenue in August

The State Customs' Office collected a record 0,5 billion euro in revenue in August, the institution announced on Friday. This is close to 100 million euro (23 percent) more than the earnings in August of 2020. The biggest increase of revenue comes from a spike in collected Value added tax from imports (80 million euro more than last August), excise duties on alcohol and tobacco (10,5 million euro spike) and customs duties (5,5 million euro increase), the agency said.
