It's official - There Is Such a People won the elections with 24.1% of the vote, followed by GERB with 23.5%, BSP with 13.4%, Democratic Bulgaria with 12.6%, MRF with 10.7%, and Rise Up! Thugs Out with 5%. As a whole, 42.2% of people who have a right to vote cast their ballot on July 11. They might be exercising that right again very soon considering that there's no clear coalition government in sight.

GERB says that it will not support Trifonov's cabinet

Today, GERB party leader and former prime minister Boyko Borissov announced that GERB will not support the cabinet, proposed by Slavi Trifonov's TISP. At the briefing, which Borissov himself described as a show, he repeatedly begged Trifonov and Democratic Bulgaria's leader Hristo Ivanov to form a functioning government in order to avoid a continued tenure of the caretaker government.

Inflation accelerates to 2.7% in June compared to June 2020

The increase is a result of higher prices in transport and the entertainment industry. More specifically - fuel prices are close to 25% above last year's level, and tour operators' holiday packages have become more expensive by 11.8%. However, on a monthly basis, prices have decreased by 0.2% on the back of cheaper fruit and vegetables compared to May.

NEETs up by 30,000 in Bulgaria in 2020

The share of young people not in education, employment and training (NEET) compared to the population aged 20-34 increased in 2020 by 2.6 percentage points to 21.8%, according to Eurostat. The indicator rose during the crisis in all EU member states except the Netherlands. Bulgaria is among the countries with the highest share of NEETs in the EU along with Italy, Greece, and Spain.
