The parliamentary committee that stirred Bulgarian politics continues to dig in until the last day of this parliament. Three state companies - Avtomagistrali, Bulgartransgaz and Bulgarian development bank haven't filed the requested documents in the committee for revision of the government. One minister was due to speak in front of deputies today but this will be the last appearance for some time.

Caretaker government to be announced tomorrow

President Rumen Radev is due to appoint the new cabinet to govern in the interim period before the next elections in July. This will be the first time that someone else other than Boyko Borissov has been Prime Minister in 4 years. It is expected that the caretaker government will continue with the revision of the previous cabinet, while preparing for fresh elections.

Industry makes a big jump in March

This is what the statistics show - revenue in the sector is up by 19% compared to the previous month. Although a rise in the index, measured by the National Statistical Institute, is not unusual for this period of the year, such a jump is significant. It is due mainly to manufacturing and energy, with a star performance by the pharmaceuticals and automotive sectors.

COVID cases fall by one-third

New cases are 35% fewer than last week, according to data. This is the second consecutive week in which such a large fall has been recorded. There are now 4% positive cases which is the lowest in months. New deaths number 27.
