Stefan Stoyanov is the deputy mayor for education, business development and European policies for the third consecutive term in the Municipality of Plovdiv, from 2011 to 2023.
He has worked actively for the good development of the local education system, leads the application team for the European Capital of Culture and created the first business development team, which works on branding the city as a tourist and business destination. He is the initiator of the digital reform in municipal schools in Plovdiv, which turned the city into a pioneer in the implementation of cloud technologies in education and a leader in the application of the 1 to 1 method in Eastern Europe. Thanks to these projects, the Municipality of Plovdiv has several international awards, among which are the American Smart 50, the European Innovation in Politics, and Mr. Stoyanov himself was chosen as one of the 100 innovators of Central and Eastern Europe for 2016 according to the prestigious ranking of Google, Visegrad Fund, Financial Times and Res Publica. Together with the business development team, he creates new trends in the award economy, actively supporting outsourcing and the IT industry, which creates thousands of jobs. Actively participates in the creation and establishment of the Thrace Economic Zone as the main industrial brand in the country.
