Prof. Assen Baltov, MD, DSc

CEO, University General and Emergency Medicine Hospital "N.I. Pirogov"

Prof. Baltov is the Executive Director of Emergency General Hospital "N.I. Pirogov" since February 2017. Previously, he has been the head of the First Emergency Clinic at the University Emergency Hospital. From April 1st, 2019 he is the coordinator of the Expert Council of Orthopedics and Rheumatology at the Ministry of Health. He was born on September 19th, 1966 in Sofia. In 1984 he graduated from the 22nd GSU Rakovski European School of Social Sciences - gr. Sofia. In 1994 he graduated from the Medical University - Sofia. Two years later, he began his specialization in orthopedics and traumatology at the Second Traumatology Clinic of Emergency General Hospital "N.I. Pirogov". He works in the hospital until December 2006. From the end of 2006 to February 2013 he was a resident at the Department of Orthopedic Traumatology and Reconstructive Surgery - Medical Military Academy. Specialist in the field of surgical treatment of fractures and joints of the limbs and pelvis; treatment of polytrauma and post-traumatic limb injuries; endoprosthesis of upper limb joints - shoulder and elbow. In June 2016 he received the scientific degree of "Professor". He is currently chairing the Bulgarian Orthopedic-Traumatology Association, being a member there since 1997. Member of EFORT since 2003 3.; AO Alumni Association Bulgaria - since 2005; International Kuncher Association - since 2009; AO Trauma Bulgaria - since 2010; AO Trauma Europe - since 2011. He has participated in more than 100 international congresses and summits with international participation.

Ivan Madzharov, MD

Dr. Ivan Madzharov is elected Chairman of the Physicians' Professional Organization of the 68th Regular Election Summit of the Bulgarian Doctors' Union in June 2018. Prior to the presidency of the BDU, he was CEO of  "Pulmed" Hospita,  Plovdiv and Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Hospital Association. From 2013 to 2014 he has been the governor Regional Health Insurance Fund Plovdiv. From 2008 to 2013 he has been "Parvomay" hospital  CEO. From 1994 to 2008 he has been a resident at the ENT Department at "Plovdiv" Hospital. Dr. Ivan Madzharov graduated from the Medical University of Plovdiv. He has a specialty in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and a Master's Degree in Health Management.

Rouslana Toncheva is the CEO of Janssen for Bulgaria, the pharmaceutical division of the largest healthcare company in the world Johnson & Johnson. She is an expert with more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she has held numerous local and international management positions at multinational innovative pharmaceutical companies before leading the Bulgarian Janssen team. Rouslana Toncheva has a Master's Degree in Economics from UNWE Sofia and MBA in "General Management" from Rotterdam School of Management, she is also a guest lecturer at Webster University Geneva and the American University in Bulgaria.

Slaveyko Djambazov, MD, PhD

Graduated English language boarding school (1995), medicine (2001), healthcare management (2007), MBA (2010). Dr Djambazov is a serial entrepreneur and was part of the team, which built the first GMP-certified pharmaceutical plant in Bulgaria (2004), a network of hospitals for the treatment of myocardial infarction, saving thousands of lives (2008), then a network of chemotherapy clinics, treating >30% of cancer patients in the country (2013), currently involved in the improvement of the outpatient care and mass introduction of telemedicine (2015 - now). Dr Djambazov is involved in more than 20 other companies as a co-founder, investor, advisor or friend. He teaches healthcare management and introduces health technology assessment (HTA) in Bulgaria, co-authors textbooks and scientific papers, frequent public speaker.

Deyan Denev

Deyan Denev is heading the Association of Research-based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers in Bulgaria since October 2003. He has a legal education from Sofia University and is an expert in pharmaceutical legislation and pharmaceutical policy. As Director of the association he is leading the advocacy activities of R&D pharmaceutical industry in Bulgaria on key issues regarding pharmaceutical policy, regulatory environment, intellectual property, pharmaceutical market development.
 
He was a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Health Insurance Fund on behalf of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria from January 2014 to January 2015.
 
Between 2008 and 2013 he was a representative of the pharmaceutical industry in the Transparency Commission, which is an appeal body for all piecing and reimbursement decisions in Bulgaria. He is a co-chair of the Central and Eastern European Task Force of EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations).
 
In 2019 Mr. Denev is chairing the Bulgarian Medicines Verification Organization.

Illiana Paunova,

Iliana Paunova is Executive Director of the Bulgarian Organization for the Verification of Medicines (BOVL). The association was established in April 2016 by the five organizations representing stakeholders in the implementation of Directive 2011/62 / EU in Bulgaria.

Prior to that, she was the Commercial Director for the Adriatic Region in GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and the General Manager of GSK for Bulgaria. At that time she has been also the President and Vice-President of the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (ARPharM). For more than 20 years Iliana Paunova has been working for the development of the pharmaceutical industry in our country and for the introduction of innovative business projects and programs for corporate social responsibility. She holds a degree in computer science from UNWE and specializations in finance, marketing and management at INSEAD, Henley Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, etc.
