In 2016, the combined value of mergers and acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe reached its highest level since 2013. Over the past 12 months deals for a total of €86.7 billion were signed, or 62% more compared to 2015, according to a joint report on the M&A market in CEE by CMS Cameron McKenna and research firm EMIS. The Bulgarian market also grew both in the number and the value of transactions. In 2016, 86 transactions were concluded in Bulgaria, which is the highest number in the last five years. Their total value is €1.37 billion, with almost half of this amount coming from the sale of UBB. Last year the figure was €699 mn.
